JVC HAF240 Gumy Ipod & Cord Air Cushion In-Ear Headphones Review

The JVC HAF240 Gumy Air is the new addition to JVC’s affordable Gumy line earbuds. This model features a high-performance 11mm Neodymium driver unit, 3.3ft friction noise-reduction cord, and a secure snug fitting with silicone air cushion. The user-friendly and colorful features of these headphones give them the upper hand over most earbuds in the market for the price.

The build and design of the JVC HAF240 Gumy Air is pretty cool, much better looking than other average earphones in the price range. The housings are plastic and coated with a soft rubber in the earpiece, which feel solid and durable.

The cabling is like the other JVC in-ear headphones – thick and sturdy. The cord from the earbud to the adapter is quite long, which allows plenty of spare cable left. This is more preferable compare to other headphones with short cable.

Don’t expect to hear $50-sound quality out of these earbuds, but they certainly offer good value for what you pay. The audio quality is generally good, but not as smooth and warm as the Monoprice 8320. The bass extension will surely disappoint many bass-lovers. The low-end control is also muddying up the midrange. However, the JVC HAF240 Gumy Air offers something surprisingly good when it comes to soundstaging and separation.

Another best thing with the headphones is its very low microphonics due to its 3.3ft friction noise reduction cord. Overall audio performance, the JVC HAF240 is still good for the price.

The secure and comfortable fitting of the JVC HAF240 Gumy Air works very well. They are nicely shaped to fit the ear canal and more comfortable than most in-ear headphones at this price point. The rubber sleeve of the ear pieces feels very nice to your ears. As for noise isolation, these earbuds provide below the average capability to block out outside noise, unless, of course, you ratchet up the volume, which is not a good thing.

The JVC HAF240 Gumy Air is a good-looking and comfortable entry-level earbud. One best selling factor of this model, as with all the other JVC earphones, is its user-friendly features. Though the headphones may not satisfy the audiophiles, but for the $9.05 (on Amazon) price tag, you can have a durable and comfortable new pair of earphones that works great for everyday use.

The JVC HAF240 Gumy Ipod & Cord Air Cushion In-Ear Headphones are available in a wider range of colors that match well with the latest iPod, iPhone, and other portable MP3 players. Color options are black, blue, green, orange, pink, purple, red, white, and yellow.
